INDIANAPOLIS

CAPITOLS

A championship legacy returns to one of football’s most passionate cities, bringing history, pride, and purpose back to the heart of Indiana.

The Indianapolis Capitols are not just a revived name — they are one of the defining identities of the original Continental Football League. Built on a foundation of grit and competitive excellence, the Capitols carry a legacy that helped shape professional football outside the NFL.

Now, as the CoFL launches into a new era, Indianapolis once again takes its place at the center of the league — a city where football tradition runs deep and expectations remain high.

TEAM HISTORY

THE LAST CHAMPIONS

From the final champions of the classic CoFL to a cornerstone of its modern revival.

The Indianapolis Capitols first took the field in 1968 and quickly became one of the league’s premier teams. In 1969, they delivered one of the most memorable moments in CoFL history — capturing the Continental Cup championship in dramatic overtime fashion.

That title marked the final season of the original league, cementing the Capitols as the last champions of that era and forever linking their identity to the CoFL’s legacy.

Beyond that championship run, the franchise continued competing in multiple leagues throughout the 1970s, earning additional titles and building a reputation for resilience and adaptability across different eras of professional football.

Today, the Capitols return as a living connection to that history — a team that represents both where the league has been and where it is going.

HOME OF THE CAPITOLS

A new stage for a historic franchise in the heart of Indiana football.

As the Capitols prepare for their return, Indianapolis once again becomes a key market in the Continental Football League’s footprint. The team is expected to establish its home within the greater Indianapolis area, bringing professional outdoor football back to local fans for the summer of 2026.

With ties to facilities like Grand Park Sports Campus — a major hub for athletics and community events — the Capitols are positioned to create an environment built on accessibility, energy, and regional pride.

The vision is clear: a team rooted in its city, supported by its community, and playing in an atmosphere that reflects the intensity and tradition of Indiana football.
