This Week

A new executive. A new market. A league moving forward.

Two announcements this week — both structural, both meaningful.

First, the Continental Football League welcomes Jason Phillips into the league office as Executive Vice President, League Development — an All-American receiver, NFL and CFL veteran, and one of the most respected receivers coaches in the game.

Second, the CoFL welcomes Milwaukee as its next 2027 market — the third team in the North, and the newest chapter in a league being built city by city, standard by standard.

Continental Football League

An All-American receiver at the University of Houston and a two-time national receptions leader, Phillips played five seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons before continuing his career in the CFL. Over the next twenty-five years he built a national reputation as one of the finest receivers coaches in the profession — working across the college ranks and, most recently, coaching Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter on Deion Sanders' staff at the University of Colorado.

At the CoFL, Phillips will help expand the League's relationships across the professional football community, advise on ownership recruitment, and represent the League in markets where CoFL football is being built.

“Jason is one of the most respected coaches of his generation and one of the most well-connected people in football. He is joining the CoFL because he believes in what we are building, and because he wants to help us build it the right way — with the right people, in the right markets, at the right pace.”

Milwaukee Pro Football Joins the CoFL

The League's third team in the North unveils Wednesday at the Ambassador Hotel. CEO Manny Matsakis on site.

The historic Ambassador Hotel in Milwaukee — site of the Sept. 16 announcement.

Milwaukee is in.

The Continental Football League has secured Milwaukee as its next 2027 expansion market, joining the Indianapolis Capitols and the Cincinnati Dukes to complete the North Division's three-team foundation for the League's second season. The new club, Milwaukee Pro Football, will be led by Team President Ahmed Hollowell, and formally introduces itself to the city next Wednesday.

Milwaukee is a People's League city in every way the CoFL was built to serve — a working town with generational football culture at every level, from Friday-night high school stadiums packed on the south side to Saturday youth leagues in every neighborhood. It is the kind of market where professional football belongs to the community that shows up for it.

“Milwaukee is a football town. Always has been. This is a city that shows up for the Bucks in the winter and the Brewers in the summer — and that shows up for the game of football at every level, in every neighborhood, all year long. The Continental Football League belongs in a city like this, and Milwaukee Pro Football is exactly the kind of ownership group we built the CoFL to work with. On September 16, at the Ambassador Hotel, this community gets to meet its team.”

— Manny Matsakis, Founder & CEO, Continental Football League

What Wednesday's program will deliver.

Milwaukee Pro Football and CoFL leadership will introduce the club and its president, outline the 2027 staged-feasibility launch approach, discuss community participation in the club's build, and launch the All-In membership program — the community's first way to plant a flag with the team.
