What a way to open the season. Across four Week Zero matchups, every CoFL club walked off with a shutout victory — a clean sweep that announced the league's defensive identity in unmistakable terms. Now we shift from preseason to the real thing.

Tonight, two of those defenses meet head-on as our Game of the Week sends the San Antonio Toros into Pflugerville to face the Texas Syndicate at The Pfield. Up north, the Cincinnati Dukes are back at home tonight too, hosting the Indy Bison in a non-league tune-up. And the Ohio Valley Ironmen are days away from reporting for camp.

Two Shutouts Collide: San Antonio Toros at Texas Syndicate

If Week Zero was a statement, tonight is the rebuttal. The San Antonio Toros and Texas Syndicate both opened their seasons by demolishing their preseason opponents — and both did it without surrendering a single point. Something has to give.

The Toros, under head coach Stan Bedwell, opened with a 71–0 Memorial Day weekend statement over the Tennessee Hornets at Harlandale Memorial Stadium — one of the most lopsided preseason results in recent memory ([KSAT](https://www.ksat.com/sports/2026/05/02/toros-bring-spring-football-back-to-san-antonio-return-with-new-leadership/), [coflfootball.com](https://www.coflfootball.com/schedule)). The Texas Syndicate, under head coach James Champagne, answered with a 53–0 shutout of their own over the Arkansas Nighthawks at The Pfield. The offense moved at will, the defense never blinked, and the buzz around Pflugerville heading into tonight is real. Follow their coverage at @coflsyndicate.

What's at stake: This is the opening salvo of a six-game South Division regular season in which every team plays the others twice. With the Syndicate at home and the Toros traveling, an early road win for San Antonio would reverberate through the South. A Syndicate hold serve sets the tone for a potential playoff seed run out of Pflugerville.

The takeaway: Two undefeated, unscored-upon defenses, two staffs that have clearly built around discipline and physicality, and a state-pride matchup right in the heart of Texas football country. If you watch one CoFL game this week, make it this one.

A Clean Sweep: Every CoFL Team Shuts Out Its Opponent

Four games. Four shutouts. The Continental Football League opened its season with a defensive performance unlike anything pro football has seen in recent memory — a perfect preseason sweep for every active club.

The Cincinnati Dukes set the tone early, dismantling the Midwest Vengeance 45–0 at Mason High School Football Stadium under head coach Daryl "Slash" Moore. Down in West Texas, the Tall City Black Gold followed suit with a 26–0 result over the Texas Herd at Astound Broadband Stadium.

The bottom line: Across both divisions, every defense played a clean sheet. That's the headline heading into Week 1 — and the bar both the Toros and Syndicate are trying to maintain tonight.

Ohio Valley Ironmen Report Friday, Open at Cincinnati on June 13

A lot of fans have been asking — here's the Ironmen update.

• Season opener: Saturday, June 13 at the Cincinnati Dukes — a Northern Division clash that will set the early tone for the division.
