The Continental Football League enters Week 5 with the Southern Division race coming into sharper focus, two major Texas matchups on deck, and one undefeated franchise preparing to close its 2026 campaign with history within reach.

The San Antonio Toros remain the story of the season.

At 4–0, the Toros have outscored opponents 210–6 and are now one win away from completing an undefeated 2026 run. Their final test comes Sunday night at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland, where the Tall City Black Gold will host San Antonio in what may be the biggest Southern Division game of the year.

The Toros have already announced that Sunday’s matchup against Tall City Black Gold will close their 2026 schedule as the organization shifts focus toward its new training facility, community events, and preparation for a powerful 2027 season.

“After productive meetings with ownership and the coaching staff, we have made the strategic decision to forgo the scheduled matchup against the Texas Herd. This allows us to channel all of our energy into launching the new Toros Training Facility and preparing for a powerful 2027 season as the Continental Football League continues its restructuring, as well as upcoming community events.”

— Joshua Mair, Managing Member and Team President, Toros Ownership Group, LLC

Mair also praised the work of this year’s roster:

“We’re incredibly proud of what this group has accomplished in 2026 and are thrilled about the momentum heading into the next chapter.”

For Commissioner Mike Kelly, the Toros’ move represents exactly the kind of franchise-building the CoFL was created to support.

The People’s League is not only about games on the weekend. It is about infrastructure, community investment, athlete opportunity, and long-term professional football development in markets that believe in the game.

From the Commissioner’s Desk

“We head into Week 5 with the Southern Division race coming into sharp focus. The San Antonio Toros sit at 4–0 after surrendering the first points of their season — six, to the Texas Syndicate last Saturday — and have announced that their Sunday matchup at Tall City Black Gold will close their 2026 campaign as the franchise turns its attention to a new training facility and a powerful 2027 season.

The Toros’ stated commitment to long-term investment in their city, their players, and their community is exactly the kind of franchise-building the CoFL is built to support.

Meanwhile, the Tall City Black Gold have visibly improved week over week and are now hosting what amounts to a revenge game on home turf. The Texas Syndicate return to Pflugerville to host the Texas Herd on Saturday. Two great Southern Division games at 7 PM CST each — Saturday and Sunday — both on the United Football Media YouTube Channel.

Week 6 will be the final week of the 2026 CoFL season, and we expect every remaining game to carry weight. The People’s League is closing this season strong — and the road to 2027 is already being paved.

A quick word of thanks: a number of former Ohio Valley Ironmen have already landed on new CoFL rosters and are competing this week. To every Ironman now wearing new colors — you carry the shield with you. The league, your former teammates, and every coach in this conference are pulling for you.”

— Mike Kelly, Commissioner, Continental Football League

Sunday Night Spotlight: Toros Chase 5–0 in Their 2026 Finale

The undefeated San Antonio Toros travel to Midland on Sunday, June 28, for a 7 PM CST showdown against the Tall City Black Gold.

For San Antonio, the mission is clear: finish 5–0 and complete one of the most dominant single-season runs in modern CoFL history.

For Tall City, the opportunity is just as clear: defend home turf, shock the league, and change the Southern Division conversation overnight.

The Black Gold enter the matchup with momentum after a commanding 44–6 win over the Texas Herd in Week 4. Head coach Rodney Blackshear’s club has shown visible improvement week after week, and Sunday’s game gives the first-year franchise its biggest platform yet.

San Antonio may be viewed by many as unbeatable. Tall City Black Gold will have the chance to prove otherwise.

Week 4 Recap

San Antonio Toros 56, Texas Syndicate 6

At Wheatley Heights Sports Complex in San Antonio, the Toros moved to 4–0 with a dominant 56–6 win over the Texas Syndicate.

The Toros’ offense continued its relentless Southern Division run, while the defense allowed its first points of the season without ever letting the result come into question.

San Antonio has been one of the league’s strongest stories all year, combining high-scoring performances, defensive control, and strong community support.

Tall City Black Gold 44, Texas Herd 6

The Tall City Black Gold delivered their most complete performance of the season at Astound Broadband Stadium, defeating the Texas Herd 44–6.

After a difficult loss the week before, Tall City responded with the kind of improvement the league wants to see from a first-year franchise. That performance now sets up a major Sunday night rematch against San Antonio.

The Road to 2027 Starts Now

The Toros’ announcement carries a signal that should not be missed.

A CoFL franchise is investing in a purpose-built training facility for next season. That is franchise infrastructure. That is a long-term mindset. That is the kind of ownership commitment The People’s League is built to attract.

The CoFL is continuing its restructuring through the offseason with a focus on sharpening its model, supporting member clubs, expanding into strong markets, and giving athletes a real platform on the path to the NFL, CFL, UFL, and other professional opportunities.

The 2026 season may be nearing its final week, but the foundation for 2027 is already being laid.

Did You Know?

A 5–0 finish would make the San Antonio Toros the first undefeated team in the modern CoFL era and arguably the most dominant single-season team in the league’s 1965–1969 and 2026-onward history.

Entering Sunday, San Antonio has outscored opponents 210–6 across four games.
