The Continental Report: Ironmen News, Week 3 Results, and Southern Showdown Preview

June 18, 20264 min read

The Continental Football League enters a major week with a difficult announcement, a memorable Week 3 finish, and a Southern Division doubleheader that could shape the next phase of the 2026 season.

Ohio Valley Ironmen Cease Operations

The Continental Football League has announced that the Ohio Valley Ironmen will cease operations effective immediately.

The decision comes after a major team sponsor was unable to fulfill its financial commitment to the club. League and team leadership worked to explore every reasonable option to preserve the franchise, but those efforts ultimately came up short.

This is a difficult moment for the Ohio Valley football community, the coaching staff, supporters, and especially the players who gave their full effort to the program. The league extends its gratitude to head coach Manny Matsakis, his staff, the Ironmen supporters, and the Martins Ferry and Shadyside communities that welcomed and supported the team.

The league’s immediate focus now shifts to the players. Ironmen athletes are being actively connected with other CoFL clubs so they can continue competing, developing, and being evaluated by professional scouts.

To every Ironman: your work, pride, and commitment will not be forgotten.

Week 3 Recap

Ohio Valley Ironmen 35, Cincinnati Dukes 7

In what now becomes the final game in Ohio Valley Ironmen history, the team finished with a dominant performance.

The Ironmen defeated the Cincinnati Dukes 35–7 at Atrium Stadium in Mason, Ohio. It was a complete showing from a team that gave the league everything it had until the very end.

The result will stand as a strong closing chapter for the Ohio Valley roster, staff, and coaching group.

San Antonio Toros 59, Tall City Black Gold 0

The San Antonio Toros made a major statement in their first CoFL game at Wheatley Heights Sports Complex.

The Toros defeated Tall City Black Gold 59–0, delivering another shutout and continuing their undefeated, unscored-upon run in 2026. With back-to-back shutouts, San Antonio has quickly positioned itself as one of the strongest teams in the Southern Division.

Wheatley Heights also made its debut as a true home-field advantage for the Toros.

Southern Saturday: June 20 Doubleheader

The Southern Division takes center stage this Saturday with two games scheduled for 7 PM CST. Both matchups will stream live on the United Football Media YouTube Channel.

Texas Herd at Tall City Black Gold

Tall City Black Gold returns home looking to respond after a tough Week 3 loss in San Antonio.

The Texas Herd, a non-member affiliate, begins one of its scheduled visits against Southern Division clubs. While the Herd is not eligible for the Southern Division title, the result will still count toward the standings for the CoFL member club.

This is a reset opportunity for Tall City and a strong test for both sides.

Texas Syndicate at San Antonio Toros

The headline matchup of the night features the Texas Syndicate traveling to San Antonio to face the undefeated Toros.

The Toros won the first meeting between the two teams, 24–0. Now, the rematch arrives at Wheatley Heights with major division implications.

San Antonio enters as the only undefeated and unscored-upon team in the league, while the Syndicate arrive with momentum and a chance to make a statement on the road.

Why This Weekend Matters

Southern Saturday brings together two games, four teams, and one major night of CoFL football.

The Toros are trying to protect their perfect defensive record. The Syndicate are looking for a breakthrough road win. Tall City wants to reset the narrative after a difficult loss. The Texas Herd brings a crossover test that adds another layer of intrigue to the schedule.

For fans, this is one of the strongest Southern Division slates of the 2026 season.

Watch live Saturday at 7 PM CST on United Football Media.
